From Club to College

Junior volleyball programs have exploded all across the country. Only 20 years ago, the first AAU National Tournament was held and only 20 teams made the trip. Today, in contrast, the National Tournament will host over 600 teams and more than 6,000 participants. Today, there are over 100,000 registered junior players in the United States.

So successful are Junior programs that most NCAA Division I Coaches recruit exclusively from the Junior program ranks. The fact is, if you plan to play in college, Club is a MUST!

We find most girls have one of several goals. Some players may want to learn more of the sport and improve their skill level. For others, it may be to challenge starters for playing time. For the advanced player, it may be to improve skills and learn more of the game. For a few, it will be the exposure needed to compete for future college scholarship opportunities. You will find today most athletes who play in college participate in club volleyball. All participants enjoy the competitive tournament play. You will find that Junior tournaments are far more competitive than most games during the high school season.

Many successful high school coaches are encouraging their athletes to play Club Volleyball for the experience, instruction, and additional training time.

Is Junior volleyball only for the college bound athlete? Certainly not! Last year CJVC had teams for 12 and 14 year olds with several girls as young as 10 years old, girls who are just beginning their volleyball experience. For most players, Junior volleyball is simply another challenging experience which should lead to a lot more fun on the court as playing skills increase. Many girls find Club ball is their volleyball season due to the fact they see little playing time during their high school season and find tournament play is very rewarding.

What Will You Get from CJVC
Each player has a little different experience as a Club member. Naturally, some players are more successful than others. Players who put more effort in the program usually get more out of it than those who don't work as hard. The following are some of the major benefits of this Junior Program.

Excellent Instruction
Most teams have collegiate players and/or coaches running the program. Most have either coached, played, or both at not only a competitive Club level, but also at a highly competitive collegiate level. You will have more individual instruction due to small team sizes.

Hours of Extensive Training
Top collegiate programs work year round because volleyball takes a long time to master. Since high school programs are restricted to a few weeks of practice followed by an busy match schedule, good technical instruction is hard to obtain during school. CJVC programs provide approximately 50+ hours of training for national teams and 30-40 hours for region teams.

New Friendships
Friendships are made by bringing girls together with similar goals from various schools. The relationships which have been formed through practice and team play will be friendships that will last a lifetime.

Fitness & Improvement
You will get better! That is a guarantee. Every time you touch the volleyball your ability improves.

Exposure to college recruiters
College coaches regularly attend Junior tournaments. The majority of colleges now recruit directly from Club programs. Remember, if you plan to play in college, plan to play Club!

Investment in your athlete
The training, knowledge, self-esteem, and experience your daughter will receive will be priceless. You will not find any alternative where players can receive what they learn from participating in Juniors.

Tournament Play
Tournaments are where the hard practice pays off and where many favorable memories are made. Understand that practice and training is where you receive the most instruction and experience. Tournament play is only a supplement to participating in Club. CJVC doesn't guarantee equal playing time. Coaches determine playing time based on each players skill level, practice attendance and position. This year we plan to limit team size to provide more playing time for all. Players who are not satisfied with playing time may request to transfer to another team within their age group. This should increase your playing time, but is not guaranteed. National Teams will participate in nearly 40 tournament matches through the season and Regional Teams 25 matches.
